This is a collaboration between two designers who work with experimental materials to create sculptural objects. Evelina’s project, GIRIA, is an experimental material made from tree bark pigments combined with natural binding substances. The process of making GIRIA is a little like cooking. And its tactile texture, smell and earthy colours are like the forest. A material previously presented as a strict-shaped tableware collection now gains more freedom and reshapes itself into sculptural objects. Austėja’s project, PLASTEX, is a chemical substance of cellulose-based materials. It is made of bioplastic mixed together with organic ingredients, applied on natural fabrics to create solid objects out of soft textiles. During the experiments, materials are allowed to blend together freely and follow the natural textile transformations to complete the creative process.
